Over the weekend leading up to National day, we decided to head to Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour in JB for a 3 days 2 nights stay. We have heard a lot about this place through fellow bloggers and friends. It seemed like I was the last person to check out the place. So what are my thoughts about going there for a short vacation? In this blog post, I shall share 3 reasons why I think Hotel Jen Johor Bahru is a good holiday destination
1) The place has a very modern, chic look that is kid’s friendly.
When we first stepped into the place, we were greeted with the bright colours of orange and white. Nobody likes to go to a place filled with dull colours. Imagine walking into a very dark and eerie place…. Staff were very friendly and the check in process was a breeze. We arrived about 11 plus in the morning and we managed to get an available harbour facing room. Check out the video below.
The room was clean and conducive. The best thing is the super comfortable bed that draws into into la la land the moment you sink into it. The good is there is another pull out mattress that can double up as a bed too. So that means if you are travelling with kids, they can utilize it as an extra bed.
The team at Hotel Jen also gave us a nice sweet treat to begin our stay. It was some sweet biscuit with chocolate coated strawberries and macarons.
Hotel Jen being a modern hotel, there are facilities such as Club Lounge (only for Club Room members), Spa and also the Gym. I managed to sneak into the Club Lounge to take some photos even though I only booked the Harbour facing Deluxe Room. If you book your stay at the Club Lounge, you will be entitled to have your breakfast there plus free flow soft drinks and canapes throughout the day.
For the sports maniacs, you have a gym to exercise while facing the harbour.
Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour is a kid’s friendly hotel. It has large spaces for kids to run around. My son loved running around. It is also connected to Little Big Club and Hello Kitty Town which I will talk about in another blog post. There is also a small kids area at the lobby area where the smaller kids can use the provided crayons to draw while the older kids challenge one another with table soccer.
2) The pool… yes.. to me a hotel with a lousy swimming pool is not worth paying for.
Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour has an infinity pool, baby pool and a Jacuzzi pool. The good thing about the infinity pool at Hotel Jen is it’s safety measures. Not like many other infinity pools which are at the edge of the building. If you have been to Marina Bay Sand’s infinity pool, the size is slightly smaller than that. What I liked about it is that it was not very crowded and you can swim in peace. There is also the Skybar where you can order drinks and food by the pool. My son totally loved it. We spent about 1.5 hours daily at the swimming pool. He was crying and screaming when we had to drag him back to the room.
For me, nothing beats a good hotel stay with a good swim. And yes we did had a splashing good time for the 3 days that we were there.
3) It is very near to Singapore and an alternative to staying at Legoland Resort whereby the hotel room price could be higher.
The hotel is just a 25 minutes drive from Tuas Causeway without the causeway jam. It is only 5 minutes away from the popular Legoland. There are also shuttle bus services between Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour and Legoland provided by the hotel at stipulated timings. If you do not want to stay at Legoland hotel, this is the next best alternative.
If you are coming by air, the hotel provides airport pick-ups from Senai and Singapore Changi airport too. Alternatively, you can check out Uber ,GrabCar or the private SGtoJB car services.
