Sorry for leaving my blog so vacant for the last few weeks as I have been very busy with my business. Finally I had the time to sit down to pen out a blog post. I shall be sharing on my dinner at Hokaiddo Sushi restaurant last week during Father’s Day.
it was quite a last minute rush to find a place to celebrate with my in-laws. At first we wanted to go to Shashlik restaurant to eat but it was full booked. My in-laws loved Japanese food and the next alternative was to find a Japanese restaurant to go to. The night before Father’s Day, i called them at 1015pm and thank GOD, they were still open and there was only 1 table left. I immediately booked it.
We arrived at about 6pm the next day at the restaurant, we were the 2nd group of patrons there. It is good to go early as the staff will be more attentive to you. After looking through the menu, we decided to go for the buffet instead of the ala carte as it is more value for money. The buffet comes with many choices of the ala-carte food.
Below are some of the items that we ordered. On top of that, every table had a complimentary dish (cold prawns with truffle) from the chef.
For me personally, what determines how good a a Japanese eatery is it’s sashimi. The sashimi was super fresh and it had that melt in the mouth feeling. The Pitan toufu and Hokaiddo Maki was also very refreshing. We ordered quite a lot of sashimi to share. Check out the full buffet menu in the below links. There is the noodles and rice, agemono, yakimono, maki, temaki, appetisers and itamemono sections to choose from. Drinks are served and priced separately though. The good thing is kids below 6 eat for FREE!!!
The good thing about the place is that the tables are well spaced out and you could put a baby chair without blocking other tables. For people who love seating at the sushi counter, there are about 15 count er seats and for families with bigger groups, there are 4 private rooms available.
The restaurant also serves Omakase for dinner. There are 4 options to choose from.
- The Hana which consists of an appetiser, assorted sashimi, assorted cooked dishes,, nigiri and maki sushi, soup and a japanese dessert @SGD68.00.
- The Yuki which consists of an appetiser, assorted sashimi, assorted cooked dishes,, nigiri and maki sushi, soup and a japanese dessert @SGD88.00 (More in food quantity).
