Recently, I have been trying to bring my son to various places on Saturday morning. I am a firm believer of letting our kids try new stuff (places). Today we decided to bring him to Riders Cafe for brunch. Riders Cafe was opened in 2007 and it is in the list of Singapore’s popular brunch places. The place is not accessible via public transport, so it is advisable to drive or take a cab. Set against the lush green with horses running around. Next to it is the Bukit Timah Saddle Club. Members of the club can learn horse riding over there. The unique selling point of the cafe is the view while having brunch. You can see the horses in training or roaming around the place.
The cafe is not very big. It can hold approximately 60 people. Being a popular brunch spot, it is advisable for you to book a table before coming down. We were quite lucky as we only waited about 15 minutes for a table. Being a popular brunch place, the cafe also caters for kids with a kids menu.
I had a Pacific Benedict (consists of 2 poached eggs, crab cakes, smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce) with a good o Latte whereas my wife has a Blackstone Benedict (consists of 2 poached eggs, bacon, roma tomatoes, english muffins and hollandaise sauce) with a power berry shake. We ordered a Breakfast bacon pizza for my son. It took us about 20 mins for our food and drinks to arrive. To me it was quite good considering it’s full house

When you are there, try to get the balcony seats, You will be able to get a good view of the horses. Take note that there are only about 5 plus tables at the balcony. We were lucky to get a balcony seat and my son had the VIP seat facing the grass patches.
So what’s my verdict of the food. The food is pretty decent and they serve a wide range of breakfast stuff (From eggs stuff to muesli). However, I felt that they can expand their kid’s breakfast menu to have more stuff. Currently, there is only 4 items to choose from. Check out their brunch menu here.
But if you are looking for a unique view with decent brunch food, Rider’s Cafe is the place to go. Where on earth in Singapore can you see people riding on horses/horses in training while enjoying your breakfast. Maybe the zoo is the next probable place but you better get permission to da bao food into the horse riding area… Tsk tsk.
Rider’s cafe also caters for private events. That means, you can book the whole cafe for any private occassion. Be it a corporate event or a birthday, the peeps at Rider’s cafe will be ready to entertain you. if you are looking at hosting yourkid’s birthday there, you can sign up for the Birthday pony hire package. For a price of $300.00, your kid plus their friends get to ride on a pony with an experienced handler for one hour. Do check out the website here for more information.
How was my experience at the Rider’s Cafe. It was a pretty good one. It is definitely a kids friendly place and you do not need to worry that your kids get bored while waiting for their meal. You can bring them to walk around and look at the horses nearby.
