Today you are about 10 and a half months old. In a short while, you will be celebrating your 1st year on planet earth. Time flies! Daddy have seen you from the first day you gushed out all the way till today where you can start to climb up a table! Daddy is very amazed by your flexible body. Now you are in the stage of throwing things on the floor. Whatever that is placed in your hand goes to the floor within seconds. You have reached another stage of your life. You can respond to people, you know how to distinguish strangers from familiar people. Very soon, you will be walking and Daddy will be chasing you round the house. I hope that it will not come so soon though. Sometimes I wish that time will just stop or I can enter a time machine to teleport back to the days when you were fresh out of the oven!
You will be thrilled by simple things such as peek-a-boo and biting of toes. At first I could not understand why you would be so happy biting your toes. I asked myself and I came to the conclusion that a child can be happy with the simple things in life. To a child, the parent’s involvement in their lives is the most important thing to them. I believe that you will not trade in anything for the precious time spent with us. Of course being a boy, Daddy knows that you will find your own friends when you grow up and probably start to come back very late in the night. I promise to treasure these growing up years as much as I can. As long as Daddy does not fly for work, he will try his very best to spend quality time with you.
Daddy has 3 simple wishes for you this year.
1) Grow up to be a healthy boy. Daddy pray that no sickness will come and enter your body. Deuteronomy 7:15 says. “And the Lord will take away from you all sickness, and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you knew, will he inflict on you, but he will lay them on all who hate you”
2) Pick up the right habits. Yeah, you might be wondering why I want you to do it so young. Picking up the right habits will stay with you throughout your life. A bad habit is very easy to be formed but it can take ages to be broken!
3) To be a very sociable boy. Make as many friends as you can. Daddy will slowly teach you how to woo girls in time to come but then the most important is to be true to yourself! When you are friendly, you will be a magnet for others to come to you.
With this, Daddy just want to shout out “I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!! Muakzz.” I would want to leave you with this love poem which I happened to read online. The original is from a mom to her son but I would like to put it into the context of me, a daddy to my son.
I never want this to go unsaid,
So here in this poem, is for it to be said.
There are no words to express how much you mean to me,
A son like you, I thought could never be.
Because the day you were born, I just knew,
God sent me a blessing- and that was you.
For this I thank Him everyday,
You are the true definition of a son, in every way.
It is because of you that my life has meaning,
Becoming a mum (dad) has shown me a new sense of being.
I want you to know that you were the purpose of my life,
Out of everything I did- it was you that I did right.
Always remember that I know how much you care,
I can tell by the relationship that we share.
For a son like you there could be no other,
And whether we are together or apart,
Please do not ever forget-
You will always have a piece of my heart.
