For all the new daddies out there, becoming a daddy will somehow change you. Your priorities will have to change. Family time is important. The first few months of your kid is one of the most important phase of his/her life. Never belittle the moments that you spend with your kid.
Every kid loves the warmth and the closeness of his daddy. The dad is a source of strength and comfort for the kid. When I pick Reuben up and hugs him closely to me, he will just fall asleep. The dad is like King Leonidas in the movie “300”. He must be at the front line for his kid. GOD made man and woman differently. As a daddy, our role as a protector is very important. If the daddy do not discharge our duties properly, the mummy will have to take on this role and this is going to put a lot of pressure on her.
The kid will look upon the dad as the role model in his life. If the dad do not spend time with his kid, there could be a chance that the kid will grow up to be rebellious. DaddyChow advocates that dads should spend quality time with the kids. It does not need to be quantity time as Singaporean dads need to work and work takes up a bulk of our time. However, reading a bedtime story before the kid’s sleep time is a form of quality time. Holding and hugging the kid for 10 mins everyday is a form of assurance to the kid.
Daddychow will be sharing more of his experiences in the next few blog posts. Stay Tuned!!
